Brant Secunda
Brant is a shaman, healer and ceremonial leader in the Huichol Indian
tradition of Mexico. He completed a 12 year apprenticeship with Don
José Matsuwa, the renowned shaman who passed away in 1990 at the
age of 110. Brant Secunda is the adopted grandson of Don José Matsuwa,
and was chosen by Don José to take his place to help carry on Huichol
Shamanism. Brant is the Director of the Dance of the Deer Foundation
Center for Shamanic Studies and leads seminars and pilgrimages worldwide.
His work has been documented on television, radio and in articles
and books.

The Healing Medicine of Huichol Indian Shamanism

Brant Secunda, a shaman in the Huichol tradition, explores the healing
medicine of shamanism, healing and ceremonial celebration. Brant emphasizes
the importance of shamanism for personal well-being and for the continued
survival of the environment and Mother Earth. Learn and experience shamanic
practices of health and healing, ways to approach places of power, healing
rituals to bring alive your connection to the spirit of nature and the
Dance of the Deer ceremony. Brant will also show a slide presentation
with the late Don José Matsuwa and other great Huichol shamans,
photographed in the Sierra Madre Mountains in Mexico. Integrated in the
program is an exhibition of Huichol art which reveals the mystic world
of cosmology, dreams and visions.

Explore the power and joy of Huichol shamanism with Brant Secunda, shaman-healer
in the Huichol Indian tradition. Brant will teach ancient shamanic techniques
to bring health and balance into our everyday lives using the healing
power of the elements. Learn ways to connect with the power of Mother
Earth and offer her prayers to heal ourselves, our communities and our
world. Brant will also guide us in shamanic prayer, chanting, rattling,
and the sacred Dance of the Deer ceremony. Through this ancient tradition,
we can discover the wisdom each of us carries within our hearts and learn
the visionary and healing way of Huichol shamanism.
